Château de Jouqueviel stands in Jouqueviel (Tarn), in the Occitanie region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 14th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.
Perched on a small outcrop of gneiss above the valley, the remains of the château de Jouqueviel consist mainly of an old tower next to a later, smaller dwelling. Likely occupied since the 13th century, the site was never a noble residence but served rather as a lookout or a defensive post for the nearby village. The place gave its name to the village itself, Jouqueviel meaning in Occitan the old perch, a direct reference to its clifftop position. What visitors find today is mostly thick stone walls and a stark, functional structure rather than any refined architecture.
