To make a day of it

Château de Janvry stands in Janvry (Essonne), in the Île-de-France region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 17th century, 19th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The château de Janvry stands at the heart of the village, in the Essonne department, some thirty kilometres from Paris in the Hurepoix region. Built in the first half of the 17th century, it displays typical Louis XIII architecture, with a U-shaped courtyard, a moat and a poplar-lined approach. The estate has remained in the hands of descendants of the Anjoran and Reille families, who restored it after damage suffered during the Second World War. Today used for hunting parties and private events, it is not open for regular public tours.
