Château de Gourville stands in Gourville (Charente), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. No visits are on record for this building.
In Gourville, in the Charente region, stands a fortress whose origins trace back to an earlier Gothic citadel, with remnants uncovered in its foundations. The site was once a major seigneury in Poitou, fought over during the Hundred Years' War and later reshaped by the Montmorency family and then by the Duchess of Longueville, who hosted the writer François de La Rochefoucauld here. Visitors can see a Romanesque hall dating from the 12th century, half buried, reached across a drawbridge over dry moats, the oldest surviving part of the site.
