To make a day of it

Château de Genas stands in Cléon-d'Andran (Drôme), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 17th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

Set in the Andrans plain, in the Drôme provençale region, the château de Genas displays a 17th century classical façade flanked by two corner pavilions with curved pediments. Its most notable feature is a double balustraded staircase adorned with lions, one of the few of its kind in the region, crowned with the coat of arms of the Genas family. Oriented to shelter from the mistral wind, the building has kept most of its original layout despite a 19th century wing addition.
