To make a day of it

Château de Fumichon stands in Fumichon (Calvados), in the Normandie region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 16th century, 17th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

Fumichon castle stands apart from the village, south of the commune, in the Calvados countryside. This flat-land manor of brick and stone was built in the 16th century by the Fumichon family, likely under Jean de Longchamp, lord of the place and governor of Lisieux. The moats that once surrounded it were filled in during the 18th century, and the main house underwent partial rebuilding under Louis-Philippe, giving the whole a composite look.
