Château de Fargues stands in Fargues (Gironde), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 14th century, 17th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
In Fargues, in the Gironde region, stand the ruins of a 14th century fortress built by a nephew of Pope Clement V. Enlarged and fortified over the following centuries, it was devastated by a fire in 1687 and left abandoned for more than a hundred years before undergoing partial restoration between 2000 and 2015. The site, still owned by the Lur-Saluces family, ranks among the notable examples of military architecture from the late Middle Ages into the early modern period. The surrounding estate also produces a sweet sauternes wine.
