To make a day of it

Château de Cuire stands in Caluire-et-Cuire (Rhône), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The château de Cuire stands on a rocky spur above the Saône river, in the Cuire-le-Bas district of Caluire-et-Cuire. Built in the early 14th century by the abbot of Ainay as a fortified house, it lost its medieval appearance after a remodeling around 1830 that gave it its present form as a large residence with regular façades. Remains of its enclosure walls and towers survived for a long time before gradually disappearing, including during the widening of a nearby road. The building, now divided into private apartments, can only be seen from the outside.
