In Piolenc, in the Vaucluse, the château de Crochans replaces a medieval fortified house, remnants of which survive in the adjoining former farm. Built between 1741 and 1743 to plans by architect Jean-Pierre Franque, it stands within a landscaped park laid out in the late 19th century. The estate now belongs to the Gruss family, who run circus training courses in the park.
