What the French Ministry of Culture records
Importance stratégique du château commandant la vallée de la Couze et ayant appartenu à la Vicomté de Turenne. Mention du château au 11e siècle, reconstruction du donjon au 13e siècle. Château vendu comme bien national en 1795. Pigeonnier recouvert d'un dôme. La morphologie des ouvertures du donjon, portes et fenêtres en arc brisé, permet de dater le donjon de l'époque gothique.
