Château de Confolens stands in Confolens (Charente), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
In Confolens, Charente, the remains of a medieval castle can still be seen: a square keep from the 12th century and sections of pink granite wall pierced by a narrow pointed-arch gateway. The site withstood several sieges in the Middle Ages, including one in 1091 in which Count Boson III of La Marche was killed while attacking it. Passed through marriages and sales to lords who no longer lived there, it retained only a judicial function, housed in its courtroom hall.
