To make a day of it

Château de Cherveux stands in Cherveux (Deux-Sèvres), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 14th century, 15th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

In Cherveux, in the Deux-Sèvres region, stands a fortified château whose irregular five-sided enclosure is still mirrored in its water-filled moat. Built mainly in the 15th century by Robert Cunningham on the remains of a medieval stronghold once linked to the Lusignan family, the building combines a keep with carved machicolations and a series of interconnected towers. Visitors cross the moat and pass through a vaulted gateway beneath the gatehouse before reaching a courtyard shaped by centuries of alterations.
