Château de Chavagneux stands in Genouilleux (Ain), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 12th century, 14th century, 15th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.
Overlooking the Saône river at Genouilleux, in the Ain department, stands the cylindrical brick keep of a fortified castle built around the late 13th and early 14th centuries. A second château was erected nearby in the 18th century, partly using materials from the demolished medieval fortress. Only this tower and a few remains of the old enclosure survive today, recalling a site that once controlled a river crossing and its toll.
