What the French Ministry of Culture records
Cette forteresse a été reconstruite au 15e siècle pour la famille de Culan, puis reconstruite vers 1580 pour la famille de L'Aubespine. La date de 1581 est gravée sur la corniche du pavillon d'entrée. La date de 1582 est inscrite sur un panneau de l'aile sud. Le soubassement conserve des restes du château du 13e siècle. L'édifice présente deux corps de logis parallèles, reliés par un bâtiment. Le portail d'entrée, en plein cintre et encadré de pilastres, est flanqué de deux tours fortifiées par des meurtrières. Des chapiteaux ornés de volutes et d'oves surmontent les pilastres. Frise avec triglyphes et métopes sur le pavillon d'entrée.
