The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: third quarter of the 17th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Châteaufer, also known as Château du Breuil, stands at Bruère-Allichamps, on the border between Berry and Bourbonnais. Built in the late 17th century for Charles Le Fer, a royal finance official in Bourges, it has a rectangular main building flanked by two projecting wings, with an unbroken roofline. Notable features include doorways framed by Doric pilasters, dormer windows topped with pediments, and, inside, original painted wall decorations dating from construction. The farm buildings in the forecourt complete a symmetrical overall layout.
