In Brochon, in the Côte-d'Or, this neo-Renaissance château from the late nineteenth century was built at the initiative of the writer Stéphen Liégeard, who wished to crown his vineyard estate with a building modelled on the great Loire châteaux. The façades draw on Azay-le-Rideau, Chenonceau, Blois and Chambord, while the interior displays eighteenth-century style decoration by noted artists of the period. Since the mid-twentieth century the building has housed a secondary school, though visitors can still see the hall, the main staircase and the reception rooms.
