To make a day of it

Château de Boult stands in Boult (Haute-Saône), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 18th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

Set on a rise north of the village of Boult, in the Haute-Saône region, this 18th century château faces the church, which stands on its own hill. Rebuilt around 1745 for Claude-Antoine d'Hennezel from designs by the architect and sculptor Claude Damien Gardaire, it replaced an older building already in ruins by the 15th century. The main house, flanked by projecting end pavilions, retains oak paneling, fireplaces and a stone staircase decorated with statues attributed to Gardaire. The park stretching to the north contains a mosaic-decorated grotto, stylistically close to the one at the château d'Ollans.
