To make a day of it

Château de Blancey stands in Blancey (Côte-d'Or), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: fourth quarter of the 16th century, 17th century, 18th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

The château de Blancey stands at the edge of the village, built mostly in the late 16th century over the remains of an earlier stronghold. Its main building, flanked by a tower, and its outbuildings framed by two round towers still show traces of a defensive design: arrow slits, a bretèche and the groove once used for a drawbridge. A vaulted chapel tucked inside one of the towers, reached by a spiral staircase, can also be seen, along with an 18th century wrought iron gate that once marked the entrance to the courtyard.
