In the village of Arthel, on a rocky spur next to the church, stands a château whose two round towers with lantern roofs date from 1584, while the main building was rebuilt in 1722 on the remains of an older fortress. Eighteenth and nineteenth century owners gave it its present form, adding a pavilion on each side of the central block. Around it, a terraced park still holds a clipped box garden and dry moats that recall the site's earlier defensive role.
