L'édifice, tel qu'il se présente dans sa forme actuelle, remonte, pour l'essentiel, au 15e siècle. L'ensemble bâti est constitué de deux quadrilatères successifs qui délimitent la grande cour agricole ainsi que la haute cour du logis seigneurial. Du Moyen-Age, le château reprend le principe des douves et des angles flanqués de tours rondes et des courtines aveugles. La forteresse subit des modifications architecturales importantes au 17e siècle et, au 19e siècle, des aménagements sont entrepris, notamment ceux du jardin. Aujourd'hui, le château abrite l'établissement de service et d'aide par le travail.
