In Arthun, in the Loire department, the Château de Beauvoir stands on the site of an earlier manor, of which only trace ditches and foundations remain. The present building dates from the late 18th century, rebuilt around 1780 in the Louis XVI style by the Italian architect Pietro Antonio Gabbio. During the following century a second floor and a small lantern tower were added, along with an English-style park and a terrace. Inside, a rare panoramic wallpaper depicting Brazil, printed in Paris in the early 1860s, has survived.
