Château de Fleyriat stands in Viriat (Ain), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. What the French Ministry of Culture records

Le château apparaît partiellement sur les plans à partir de 17476. En 1794, se développe un premier domaine agricole dont le cadastre de 1830 donne une vision générale : maison carrée élevée dès la fin du 18e siècle puis progressivement jusqu'en 1811 ; création d'un axe majeur avec la mise en place d'un portail bordé d'écuries à droite et d'un mur couvert à gauche. En 1803, construction de l'orangerie. En 1862, le descendant du baron de Bohan acquiert une parcelle contiguë et y fait construire un petit château de campagne, entouré d'un parc à l'anglaise, par l'architecte Edouard Corroyer. Le parti pris est celui du style néo-Renaissance. Elève de Viollet-le-Duc, l'architecte conçoit jusqu'aux détails du décor intérieur. Le parc, prévu par Corroyer et réalisé par le paysagiste Derussy, est caractéristique des parcs de cette période, avec un agencement en pétales, une attention portée à la topographie et au pittoresque, une utilisation de l'eau pour créer une petite île accessible par une passerelle et la plantation d'espèces variées.
