To make a day of it

Château de Baudry stands in Cerelles (Indre-et-Loire), in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument. The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

The château de Baudry stands at Cerelles, in Indre-et-Loire, within a large wooded estate spread across three villages. Traces of a medieval fortified house remain in its foundations, though the building seen today results from successive campaigns from the 16th to the 20th century, carried out notably by the Forget, Taschereau and Reille families. Its park, redesigned at the end of the 19th century by landscape architect Édouard André, earned it the nickname Versailles of northern Touraine. A private residence still lived in today, it stands chiefly as a record of architecture and garden design rather than a site open for visits.
