Château d'Ampuis stands in Ampuis (Rhône), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 16th century, 17th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Standing on the right bank of the Rhône, at the foot of the côte-rôtie vineyards, the château d'Ampuis occupies a site inhabited since Roman times, where a fortified house was already recorded in the 14th century. Remodelled in the 16th and 17th centuries and turned into a seigneurial residence, the building has kept two of its original round towers. It now houses the headquarters of the Guigal wine house, which oversaw its restoration between 1995 and 2006. The entrance gate with antique columns, the chapel and the terraced gardens overlooking the river are among the protected features.
