The château d'Aiguillon stands above the confluence of the Lot and Garonne rivers, on a site that once held medieval fortresses long since vanished. Commissioned in the 1760s by the duke of Aiguillon, it was meant to form a large complex around a formal courtyard, but only part of the plan was ever built, the main block and the left wing, while the right wing was never constructed. The facades, plain and marked by rectangular window bays, carry on their rear side a sculpted pediment showing the allegorical figures of the Lot and Garonne rivers. The interior, ransacked in 1792, no longer holds its original decoration.
