Ancien château stands in Thorigny-sur-Oreuse (Yonne), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 18th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

At Thorigny-sur-Oreuse, nothing remains of the château itself except its garden, and that garden is the reason to come. The 18th century building disappeared as early as 1806, torn down by its owners at the time, leaving only the network of canals, pools and formal beds laid out in the late 17th and 18th centuries. Local tradition even credits Le Nôtre with the garden's design, through the family ties of the Lambert de Thorigny. What draws visitors is this trace of a water garden, since the architecture behind it is gone.
