At Bruz, on the edge of Rennes, the manoir de Saint-Armel served for seven centuries as the country residence of the bishops of Rennes before becoming private property during the Revolution. The listed building complex consists of two wings meeting at a right angle, surrounded by former moats crossed by two stone bridges. Notable features include the arched doorway of the west building, flanked by Ionic pilasters and topped with a coat of arms, and the early 19th century entrance gate which replaced the former seigneurial gateway.
