The manor of la Motte Beaumanoir stands on the boundary between the villages of Plesder and Pleugueneuc, in Ille-et-Vilaine. Built in the 15th century by the Boutier family, it passed through several lineages, including the Gruel and then the Beaumanoir families, before belonging for two centuries to the Lorgeril family. Successive extensions, particularly those carried out by Louis de Lorgeril in the early 19th century, gave it much of its present appearance, combining an older dwelling with later added wings.
