The Wasserschloss Ulenburg stands in the Ulenburg district of Löhne, surrounded by a moat that recalls its earlier defensive purpose. Built in the late 1560s for the von Quernheim family, it displays the Weser Renaissance style through its sandstone-trimmed facade and rear stair tower. Enlarged in the seventeenth century and reworked at the start of the twentieth, the building later served for decades as a care home before passing into new hands. It is now owned by a Yazidi community, which is converting it into a cultural and meeting centre.
