To make a day of it

Wasserschloss Gershausen stands in Bad Wildungen (Landkreis Waldeck-Frankenberg), in Hesse, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.

The Wasserschloss Gershausen is a former moated stronghold, now part of the Gershäuser Hof farmstead in the Kellerwald hills a few kilometres south of Bad Wildungen. A small medieval fortification already stood on the site before it was converted into a moated castle during the Thirty Years' War. What remains today is a truncated round keep, scattered wall fragments, a vaulted cellar and sections of the water-filled moat fed by the Gersbach stream. The residential building erected in the late 18th century by the von Hanxleden family still stands at the edge of the farm courtyard.
