To make a day of it

Stadtschloss Klingenberg stands in Klingenberg am Main (Landkreis Miltenberg), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The Stadtschloss Klingenberg stands at the heart of the old town of Klingenberg am Main, set slightly above the river. Built in the 16th century for an Amtmann of the Electorate of Mainz as a family residence, it has kept its Renaissance layout largely unchanged over the centuries, the complex having remained a separate enclave outside direct Mainz administration. Visitors today can see the three storey main house, a two storey gatehouse with a large Renaissance portal, and the service buildings, all grouped around a courtyard with a round sandstone fountain. Carved coats of arms of the Kottwitz von Aulenbach and later Mairhofen families still mark the façade and gatehouse.
