To make a day of it
Schloss Wickrath stands in Mönchengladbach (Mönchengladbach), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.
Schloss Wickrath stands on the banks of the river Niers on the edge of Mönchengladbach, a baroque ensemble raised for count Wilhelm Otto Friedrich von Quadt between 1746 and 1772. The original main building was pulled down in 1859 and replaced in 1875 by the Landstallmeisterhaus, which now serves as the principal building, while the two forecourt wings, long used as stables, still stand. Around them the park is laid out in the shape of a count's five-pointed coronet, a pattern still visible on the ground. The place keeps its equestrian character, with one wing still used as a stable and the Landstallmeisterhaus now home to a restaurant.
