To make a day of it
Schloss Vollrads stands in Oestrich-Winkel (Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis), in Hesse, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Schloss Vollrads rises among vineyards away from the Rhine, built around a moated medieval keep reached only by a bridge. This fortified tower house, raised in the early 14th century by the von Greiffenclau family, was later joined by a two-winged manor house and remodelled in the early 20th century with onion-domed turrets added. The surrounding wine estate has grown Riesling for centuries and still lends its name to one of the Rheingau's vineyard sites.
