Schloss Unterschönreuth stands beside a pond at the eastern edge of the village of Schönreuth, part of the town of Kemnath. The present building is a three storey rendered structure with a hipped roof, showing reworked Baroque features and an early 18th century wall madonna. Two other noble seats once stood in the same village, but this is the only one still standing. Now privately owned, it was inhabited during the 1980s and 1990s by the opera singer and rock musician Peter Hofmann.
