To make a day of it

Schloss Trebsen stands in Trebsen/Mulde (Landkreis Leipzig), in Saxony, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 16th century. No visits are on record for this building.

Schloss Trebsen stands on the banks of the Mulde, on the site of an earlier Slavic stronghold of which only a curved stretch of wall survives in the inner courtyard. Built from 1494 under the knight Georg von Saalhausen and completed by the von Minckwitz family, it forms a four-winged quadrangle with gothic stepped gables and several well-preserved star-vaulted ceilings. The site combines late Renaissance architecture, a baroque-era English-style park, and a turbulent past of neglect followed by careful restoration after 1990.
