To make a day of it
Schloss Schwarzburg stands in Schwarzburg (Landkreis Saalfeld-Rudolstadt), in Thuringia, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Schloss Schwarzburg stands on a rocky spur encircled by the Schwarza river, on the site of a medieval stronghold first mentioned in the early twelfth century and later rebuilt as a Baroque residence following a fire in 1695. The ancestral seat of the House of Schwarzburg, the site is chiefly remembered for a pivotal moment in modern German history: it was on its terrace that Friedrich Ebert signed the Weimar Constitution on 11 August 1919. Largely destroyed in 1940, the complex still preserves parts open to visitors, including the Kaisersaal and the Zeughaus, one of the oldest surviving princely armouries in Germany.
