Schochwitz Castle stands in Salzatal, Saxony-Anhalt, on the remains of a medieval stronghold dating back to the 12th century. The current building was erected in the early 17th century for the von der Schulenburg family, later passing to the von Alvensleben family from 1783 onward. Its courtyard features an octagonal stair tower topped with a bulbous dome, a striking example of German Renaissance design. Inside, rococo stucco ceilings and period flooring remain from later renovations.
