Schloss Marienburg stands on the Marienberg hill above the Leine valley, in Pattensen, in the Landkreis Region Hannover, in Lower Saxony. This Gothic Revival, four-winged residence was built between 1858 and 1869 for King George V of Hanover, who gave it to his wife Queen Marie as a birthday gift, following designs by the architect Conrad Wilhelm Hase. Its notable interiors include the knights' hall, the library and the chapel, set within an older circular rampart on the hilltop. The castle is listed as a Baudenkmal.
