Schloss Hofhegnenberg stands on a hill above Steindorf, on the site of a medieval stronghold of which a stump of the old tower still survives, built into the south-western corner of the present complex. The four-winged building took shape around an inner courtyard in the 16th century and received neo-Gothic alterations around 1790. Surrounded by an English-style park, the estate was long in the hands of the Gebsattel family and served for nearly two decades as the setting for a German television series. The schloss is privately owned and not open to visitors inside.
