To make a day of it
Schloss Hersbruck stands in Hersbruck (Landkreis Nürnberger Land), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Schloss Hersbruck stands in the small town of Hersbruck on the site of a fortified monastic court whose exact origins remain uncertain. The present building, erected in 1517 by the Nuremberg master builder Hans Beheim the Younger, replaced a medieval tower and residence torn down after the territory came under the authority of the free imperial city of Nuremberg. Rather than a residence built for display, it served as an administrative seat, and its plain two storey structure with a hipped roof still reflects that practical origin. Today it houses the local district court, so visits are effectively limited to viewing the exterior.
