To make a day of it

Schloss Fürfeld stands in Bad Rappenau (Landkreis Heilbronn), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.

Schloss Fürfeld stands on a gentle rise above the old village core of Fürfeld, now part of Bad Rappenau. Its roots go back to a medieval stronghold held by the lords of Fürfeld, and the bossed stonework at the base of the south terrace still recalls that early phase. The building seen today, a three storey rectangular block with two freestanding corner towers, took shape mainly under the von Gemmingen family in the 16th and early 18th centuries, after the castle had been destroyed during the War of the Palatine Succession. A bridge leads to a gateway dated 1535, and the walled Seegarten beside the castle still holds a small fortified tower from 1577.
