To make a day of it

Schloss Erolzheim stands in Erolzheim (Landkreis Biberach), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.

Schloss Erolzheim stands on a partly wooded hill at the heart of the village of Erolzheim, on the edge of the Iller valley. Its compact main building, flanked by four corner towers and topped by a steep gabled roof, traces back to a manor house repeatedly rebuilt over the centuries, possibly on the site of an earlier castle held by the lords of Erolzheim. A stone coat of arms with lions above the north gate recalls the last owning family, the von Kienlin. The building today contains commercial premises and private apartments, making it a site to view from outside rather than to tour.

What to know

  • The schloss is privately owned, containing apartments and commercial units, with no organised interior visits.
  • Its architecture can be admired from the outside, particularly the courtyard and the gate decorated with a lion crest.
  • It stands in the centre of the village of Erolzheim, within easy walking distance of the village core.
  • There are no visiting hours or admission fees, as the building is not open to the public.
