Schloss Eisenhammer stands north of Neuenschmidten, a hamlet of the municipality of Brachttal, on the eastern edge of the Büdinger Wald. This broad baroque administrative building, erected in the early eighteenth century for an ironworks director, once oversaw a forge operation that gave the place its name. Notable features include its facade of twenty window bays, a mansard roof topped by a tall ridge turret, and a central carriage passage marked by an allied coat of arms carved in sandstone. Several outbuildings from the eighteenth to twentieth centuries surround the courtyard, and nearby stands a thousand-year-old oak counted among the thickest in Germany.
