To make a day of it
Schloss Eisenbach stands in Lauterbach (Vogelsbergkreis), in Hesse, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Schloss Eisenbach stands on a rocky spur above the Lauter valley, a few kilometres from Lauterbach in Hesse. First recorded in 1217, the complex still shows the pentagonal keep and curtain wall of the medieval stronghold, while the present wings date from the 16th-century Renaissance remodelling carried out by the Riedesel zu Eisenbach family, who still own the estate. Known locally as the 'Wartburg of Oberhessen' for its part in bringing Lutheranism to the area, the site is mainly experienced through its park and surroundings, as the main buildings can only be viewed from outside.
What to know
