To make a day of it

Schloss Ehingen stands in Ehingen (Alb-Donau-Kreis), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.

The Ehingen town palace vanished more than three centuries ago, and no structure remains to be visited: the site is now covered by the buildings of Ehingen's Benedictine college. Built by the counts of Berg-Schelklingen, who founded the town, it later housed the pledge-holders and governors of the lordships of Ehingen, Schelklingen and Berg. A repair record from 1568/69 lists a long series of rooms, suggesting a residence of considerable size and comfort. Nothing of the former palace can be seen above ground today.

What to know

  • This is not a visitable monument but a historical location that no longer exists physically.
  • Demolition took place by 1698 at the latest, after Kloster Zwiefalten purchased the grounds in 1692.
  • There are no opening hours, fees or access details since no building survives to visit.
