Schloss Allmendingen brings together two separate buildings joined by a connecting wing: the Altes Schloss, a moated structure whose exact origins remain uncertain, and the Neues Schloss, built in the late eighteenth century by the barons von Freyberg-Eisenberg. One of the two towers that once stood on the western front of the Altes Schloss still survives, along with the castle chapel north of the Neues Schloss, where a gravestone marks the burial of Walburga von Kopenhagen, who died in 1789. The surrounding park was laid out in the last third of the nineteenth century.
