To make a day of it
Schloss Droyßig stands in Droyßig (Burgenlandkreis), in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Schloss Droyßig stands at the heart of the village of Droyßig, in the Burgenlandkreis, Saxony-Anhalt. It began as a circular fortified complex from the early 13th century, unusual in Germany for its design echoing Crusader strongholds in the East, with six semicircular towers set at regular intervals around a central keep. In the early 17th century, Christian Julius von Hoym had a Renaissance residence built directly on top of the old medieval walls, so the outline of the original stronghold can still be traced today. The castle church, raised in 1622 over the former moat, is a rare and intact example of north German and Dutch Mannerist style.
