Haynsburg Castle stands at Wetterzeube, in the Burgenlandkreis, in Saxony-Anhalt. First recorded in 1185 under a local nobleman's name, it later served as a stronghold of the Naumburg-Zeitz diocese, then an electoral Saxon estate and a state-run farm, before becoming a village centre after 1990. Visitors can see a circular Romanesque keep from the late 11th century, a four-wing complex ringed by moats, the so-called Sidonius Tower that once held a chapel, and a Renaissance gable with blind arcading facing the Elster valley. The site today combines a town hall, an inn, a motorcycle museum and a kindergarten.
