To make a day of it
Lauenthal stands in Ilsede (Landkreis Peine), in Lower Saxony, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.
The Burg Lauenthal once stood in Ilsede, in the Landkreis Peine, Lower Saxony, halfway between the villages of Adenstedt and Gadenstedt on the banks of the Fuhse river. Built by the Guelph duke Henry the Wonderful, it was destroyed as early as 1291 during the Herlingsberg War and was never rebuilt. Around 1750 a mill was erected on the site, partly using stones from the ruined stronghold, and it took over the name Lauenthal. Only a few masonry remains survive today, marked by an information panel and benches.
