The Herrnsheimer Schloss stands in the Herrnsheim district of Worms, on a site held since the Middle Ages by the lords of Dalberg. Its present appearance owes much to alterations carried out in the early nineteenth century, followed by a further remodeling from 1837 onward that added the surrounding terrace, the broad outdoor stairways, and the crenellated library tower. A landscaped park of more than ten hectares, laid out in the English style in the late eighteenth century, surrounds the building. The interior, which contains a notable cast-iron staircase from 1842, is currently closed to visitors because of restoration work under way since 2021.
