Haus Lohe stands in Werl-Westönnen, surrounded by moats, ponds and a park laid out in the romantic style of the 19th century. First recorded in 1281, the manor passed through several noble families, from the Wulf von Lüdinghausen to the von Wrede and von Papen lines, before taking its present form through neo-Gothic extensions carried out by the architect Vinzenz Statz in 1855 and 1885. The building now forms a three-wing complex of about 700 square metres, with a chapel and tower added during that period. The estate, now privately owned, also includes the former bailiff's house and the farm buildings.
